There is an LED light that shines from below. This can be used to view microscopic objects and specimens on slides. The other light source comes from the top. This allows a different type of viewing experience called macroscopic. You can get up close and personal with solid objects using this mode of operation. Zoom in on things like coins, stamps, bugs and more.

Of course it also includes a handy instruction manual that will explain how to use everything, as well as give you quite a few helpful tips.  It does require three AAA batteries, and just like everything else the batteries are not included. There are also some very sharp objects included so keep that in mind.
